A 5 string banjo in standard "G" tuning is required. Ryan teaches how to tune the banjo and the basics of clawhammer techniques, sometimes described as "frailing," "rapping," and "drop thumb." Fingering techniques such as "pull offs," "hammers," and "slides," are explained and demonstrated and an easy tune is taught in the first DVD. The second DVD in the series teaches how to read banjo "tabs," which are written music for the banjo.
